The basis of any good offense can be explained with the question, “how many ROB shots does the offense generate?”
And then if you combine that with your shot spectrum you have some excellent analytics to digest.
Meanwhile, the shot in this video is a ROB shot. How do the Thunder generate this shot?
They seamlessly flow into a double drag…
Key considerations:
Ant switches
McDaniels chases over and then loads up in the GAP
Gobert is in deep drop
Chet and Dort cut and slide (to maintain spacing)
Followed by a Flare Screen.
Cason sets the first pick and pops out to space. Shai scans the floor, notices the switch but also notices that McDaniels is trialing behind taking away the chance to split Edwards and attack middle.
McDaniels, instead of sprinting back to be in guarding position, loads up on Shai. After Shai dribbles a couple times, allowing McDaniels to sink down to his position, Hartenstein sets a Flare at the same time as the pass for a ROB shot.
Was this a combo trigger where you see the Thunder flowing from the double drag, where Hartenstein still looks to roll first, seeing if there could be a potential advantage in the short roll? Or is this a Set play for the Thunder?
